Is it possible to unlock or hack certain phones to work on the Virgin Mobile network?
Specifically I’d like to obtain a phone similar to that of an iphone, Nexus, or a Droid 2. Something of that style. Is it possible to unlock or hack any such phone and use it with Virgin Mobile? I’d like to use Virgin if possible because of their cheap plans, but wow do their phones suck hardcore. If I’m ABSOLUTELY required to use a Virgin Mobile phone to get their service then I have no interest in Virgin Mobile.
Virgin mobile used CDMA technology, iPhone is gsm so no, you can’t use that. It is technically possible to get a CDMA phone to another carrier but it’s so complicated it’s not worth trying if you aren’t already highly skilled and by even asking the question it’s pretty obvious you aren’t up to that level.
How does 3G phones get connected to the net?
I keep hearing that 3g phones can access the net from anywhere. How does this work? Is it an additional service to buy from the internet service provider?
Yes. You have to add a data service plan to your account. You don’t get this from an Internet Service Provider, you get it from your cell carrier.
